Our Project

Tailoring Hub

The Wakiso Vocational Training Hub trains 35 to 45 women in Wakiso, Uganda, each cycle, delivering 240 hours of practical and theoretical tailoring skills over 5 to 6 months. Participants sit a certified exam through Uganda’s Department of Industrial Training three months in, then spend the remaining months securing employment or launching their own businesses with support from the programme. With start-up resources, we help them turn their new qualification into real income straight away.

Redbox

By providing free and hygienic sanitary products to those in need, the Redbox initiative improves access to essential menstrual health resources, a critical component of SRH services. We also deliver workshops in schools and communities to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, debunk myths, and promote self-confidence. In areas where female genital mutilation (FGM) is practiced, the lack of proper menstrual products intensifies health risks, something we have witnessed firsthand.

Cycle Safe

Bringing together components of the Wakiso Vocational Training Hub and Redbox, the Cycle Safe Initiative takes place in Uganda, where we have established a local production base for reusable sanitary pads. We train and pay former beneficiaries of our tailoring vocational training hub to produce these items, creating employment opportunities and establishing a self-sustaining cycle of self-reliance. This initiative strengthens the community’s capacity to meet its own menstrual health needs, with production carried out in compliance with national safety and quality standards. After production, the pads are distributed in a school setting to girls and women, alongside educational sessions delivered by nurses to raise awareness about menstrual and reproductive health.
